PRETTY IN PINK

In a dramatic change from my usual monochrome, I’ve actually managed to incorporate a teensy bit of colour into my sartorial palette. This dusky pink hue is a blogger favourite at the minute and apparently a big fashion yes,  although realistically I probably chose it because it’s the closest thing to skin colour and perfect for a play-it-safe goth like me. The lace up top is a recent find from the Missguided sale, and the stripy black and white culottes are a pyjama-like dream offered up by good old Dorothy Perkins. As usual, recently I’ve been wearing my Nike Air Force 1’s to the absolute death - they are truly the most comfortable trainers known to man.

As you may have noticed, my hair is a little bit different. Just before my recent graduation I decided to fully embrace my inner old lady - chopping it up and dyeing it an ashy shade of grey (yes I know, future me is going to kick the fuck off when I have to show my kids the graduation pictures). I believe my dad referred to this change in hairstyle as a ‘quarter life crisis,’ although I prefer to see it as a Fashion Conscious Movement. Much more catchy.

Anyway, as I mentioned, I’ve recently graduated University and after the best three years of my life I am armed with a 2:1, more memories than you can shake a stick at and a healthy sense of panic and impending doom. Seriously, the graduate fear is real. Anyone got a manual?

POOLS TO BATHE IN

I’m back with another outfit post this sunny season with what I think is the perfect summer transition outfit (not that I’m biased or anything.) I don’t know about you, but it’s an all too regular occurrence that I exit the house warmly wrapped up in my trusty Topshop duster coat before realising ten minutes into my walk to Uni that it is actually a trillion degrees outside and I’m going to have to face the fact that melting to my death is inevitable.

I’m putting my foot down once and for all and have decided that this little black Bomber jacket from Zara is my new BFF. Lightweight but perfectly tough, it’s saved me from many an awkward outfit ordeal. I’ve also decided to wear this Motel Rocks stripy Breton dress as a top because it is quite frankly indecent. I’m not sure if it’s my lacklustre washing skills or if I’m having a spontaneous growth spurt at the age of 20, but it is impossible to wear this without two pairs of tights and a very long coat.

Apart from wrestling with many an outfit dilemma, I’ve been interning with a very exciting (but still top secret) fashion experience soon to hit Newcastle, attending a James Bay gig and less glamorously, pretty much living in the library. Top of my libes playlist has been new artist The Japanese House, real name Amber Bain, who has surfaced from the depths of London with a collection of extremely addictive songs under her belt. This Christmas has been one of my busiest ever. Finishing up at uni, dealing with life dramas, travelling home and catching up with best friends and family hasn’t left much room for blogging. I’ve finally caught a moment on this rainy Saturday afternoon to chill out and re-visit my hobby. Pictured above are a few little Winter party outfit ideas which I’ll be sporting this festive season, but as I live in the depths of the Antarctic (commonly known as Northern Ireland) I’ll most likely be adding a massive coat on top to keep me toasty when running from the car to the event, and perhaps a pair of tights or ten to ward off frostbite.  I hope you enjoyed this style of post, I love peeking into other people’s wardrobes so thought it might be a nice addition to my usual ramblings.

On another note, although I’ve only had this blog for a year, and while it may not be incredibly well established like some other fabulous blogs, I love it nonetheless and am so thankful I built up the courage to create it in the first place. Blogging is the one hobby that I truly love; it allows me to write and create unique content and it really has broadened my horizons and given me some amazing opportunties (look at me getting all deep and meaningful.) Thanks so much to anyone who takes the time to browse through my posts or even just call by once, it really does mean a lot to me!

KIMONO, OH NO

I know, I know, the sunglasses are on my face yet again (why don’t I just superglue them to my face and be done with it?) I actually didn’t realise I was still wearing them until ¾ of the way through taking these shots so quickly whipped them off for one! I recently picked up this gorgeous Spider Floral Kimono from Topshop before heading off to Radio One’s Big Weekend in Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland (still cannot believe my friends managed to get tickets!) and it was the perfect practical cover up, as well as festival fashion appropriate. Despite my friends being very unsure about this little number at the beginning (words like 'wizard' and 'harry potter' were thrown around) I bought it anyway and am so glad I did. I have barely taken it off since, hence the 'oh no' of the post title. 

My disco pants are from River Island and I’ve learnt to love them again after stashing them away in my wardrobe for quite some time in favour of my Mom jeans! Not really one for majorly accessoring, I just added a simple gold spike necklace from Ebay (which was a steal at £2.99) I still absolutely love these Adonis boots from Topshop but sadly they are foot killers and I can’t wear them for very long before my feet get sore and cut. Oh the things we do for fashion.
